Mission Editor
OpenChaos has a full mission editor built in. Open it with Shift+E, or Esc then Mission editor, while playing any mission. It works best in the Mac app, where saved missions go to a folder on your computer.
Making a mission
- File → New mission: a name, a size (8 to 256 tiles across) and a theme from any retail mission. Or File → Open to change an existing one.
- Terrain: pick a tile (right-click on the map picks the one under the pointer), an orientation and a brush, then paint. O shows where units can walk.
- Place your team, dinosaurs, hunters, buildings, crates, eggs and markers from the other tabs.
- Rules → Objective: choose one of the 15 mission types. The panel lists what that type needs, shows what is missing and jumps to the right tool.
- T lets the autoplay bot try your mission; P plays it yourself and comes back to the editor.
- Ctrl+S saves it into the level list. File → Build mod packs it into a mod archive.
Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo and redo (40 steps).

Mission types
Missions reuse the game's 15 built-in objective scripts, such as: build a camp and rescue someone (Mission 1), repair a bridge and reach the dock (2), fire barriers and compys (3), destroy the jeeps (4), herd dinosaurs (5), free captives (6, 7, 9), reach a zone (8, 11, 12), escort Eddie (10) and the San Diego T-Rex run.
